Dear Members,
It is my duty and pleasure to make two leadership announcements regarding the
Officers of our Board. First, I would like to announce that Don Bartley has
been selected to be our new Road Superintendent, as was noted in the Spring
Newsletter.
Don has over 20 years experience as Road Superintendent for the City of Kawartha Lakes. The Board has wholeheartedly welcomed Don and the experience he brings with him. Don and Ken will be working together over the next month to make sure our road stays safe.
I would also like to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of Ken Marshall. Ken has not only spent the last number of months as Road Superintendent but has also worked diligently with the Board for many years including previous terms as Superintendent. His efforts this year have been numerous. On any given day, you could find Ken scratching and chipping gravel out of the expansion joints of the bridge, posting signs, clearing brush from signs and blind corners, clearing the culverts of beaver mess, monitoring the road conditions in the winter and being our main contact with service providers like Al Mansell and Wes Lake. He often spent hours on his hands and knees to ensure we all had a safe road to access our cottages. On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Ken for the tremendous work he has done for our members.
Second, as some of you may know, I am selling my cottage and moving to Barrie. Since my move will take place before the AGM, I asked the Board to elect another Chair to serve until the AGM for the sake of prudent governance. An election among Board members was held on May 24, 2019 and the winner of the election and your new Chair is Katie Tingley. Katie owns her own business focused on analytics, training, and coaching. She is also an active volunteer and Chairs several boards and committees.
Thank you for your support this past year and please join me and the Board in welcoming Katie into the role of Board Chair effective immediately.
