What a Wonderful Road

October 18, 2018 By admin

Hello Members of Mississagua-Gold Lake Cottagers’ Road Group:

By the time you read this note you will have enjoyed time with family and friends during Thanksgiving and will have seen the Board’s opening note of welcome. We all have much to be thankful for, notwithstanding that we live in Trent Lakes and in the best country in the world.

The website is now launched and I hope that you will visit it from time-to-time. There is a Get In Touch button for you to contact individual Directors. This tool heightens the Board’s accessibility and transparency, and keeps us all in touch with the maintenance of our road.

Having said that, please keep in mind that the Board is made up of volunteers who are giving their time for the betterment of us all. Submissions will be monitored regularly but please be patient given the volunteer nature of the Board.

Moreover, keeping your comments relevant, clear and positive will go a long way to creating a well-functioning Road Group. In order to attract professional and competent Members to the Board, all Road Members need to be seen as supportive and helpful and therefore avoiding the frustration some Board Members have felt over the years.

As I mentioned at the AGM, I appreciate and thank you for driving slowly on our Road. As Members, we need to set the example for contractors and delivery vehicles. Please advise your friends, family, contractors and delivery personnel to drive slowly on the Road to protect our children, pets, pedestrians, cyclists, vehicles and themselves.

We have a terrific asset in our Road. Let’s turn it into the inspiration of community spirit that we are capable of creating.

Board Chair – Dr. Ted Vandevis

P.S. The accompanying photo of two herons is an example of the many memories we all enjoy at our cottages and homes. The heron on the right is made of steel and the one on the left is real. The real one came and put its beak on the steel one. I captured a photo of that moment but unfortunately can’t find it.  However, at the time it was taken, I was able to send it to the artist who made the steel replicate.
